Welcome to the New Online Home of WRSU-FM
To all of our WRSU family - staff, students, listeners, alumni, faculty, administration, community members...well you get the idea.
Welcome to the new online home of WRSU-FM Rutgers Radio! It has been a long 7 month development process, but the dedicated crew who created the site did an awesome job. Make sure to check out their credits at the bottom of each page.
For those of you accustomed to the old site, you will find many similarities. For one, there is still a live webstream via NJ.com that you can access via the Listen Now link in the top bar on each and every page. Other than that, I hope this new site is a lot easier to navigate, and becomes a destination for lovers of local, undiscovered music, Rutgers sports, Rutgers news, and the medium that is college radio in the 21st century. If only the founders of this place 60 years ago this April could have dreamt we would be podcasting shows - a feature that I encourage you all to check out.
Here is the long and short (mainly long) of the new features the site boasts:
-Podcasting through a partnership with Rutgers iTunes initiative means personalities can upload pre-recorded material/shows to be downloaded to iPods. You can find the website to learn more here: http://rulink.rutgers.edu/itunesu/
-"Studio Blog" (that you are reading now!) serves as sounding board for staff to talk about anything related to the station or the radio world, a feature that puts us on the leading edge of radio websites.
-Dedicated pages to all of our feature shows
-"On-Air" indicator tells listeners online who is on the air at the moment and for how long
-Staff page is a page where staff can post a picture of themselves with a link to their myspace or webpage
-Listener mailing list form allows us to communicate with our listeners through periodic e-mailings, and keep in touch with alumni
-News and sports highlight pages highlight top stories on main page with links to full stories
-Enhanced photo abilities to post behind-the-scenes shots and give our medium a visual aspect
-"Staff Spotlight" features a rotating slate of staff who can tell their story and perspective on their show or work at the station, further complementing our on-air element
-Frequently updated events page makes us the source for all local music
-Station news page informs listeners and staff of station and University happenings
-Clean-sheet, intuitive design celebrates our heritage while being thoroughly modern
Stay tuned for more advancements as we bring the station to the cutting edge of radio technology.
And thank YOU for 60 years of support - whether it be as long as it took you to stumble onto this blog or as a lifelong listener - we're glad to have you along for the ride.
Yours in radio,
Dan Mulcahey
